Privacy Policy for Screen Recorder
This Privacy Policy explains how Screen Recorder, provided by Waris Labs, handles information when you use the application.
App and Provider

Privacy Summary
- You initiate screen recording and approve Android’s system screen-capture prompt for each recording session as applicable.
- Recordings are saved locally on your device. Screen Recorder does not automatically upload recordings or QA reports to Waris Labs.
- You control when and with whom you share recordings and reports.
- Optional microphone or compatible device audio is captured only when you select that audio mode.
- The free app uses Google Mobile Ads. Advertising services may process device, network and advertising information independently of your recording content.
Screen Recording
Screen Recorder uses Android’s MediaProjection APIs after you initiate recording and approve Android’s screen-capture consent interface. Recording does not start secretly: user action and system permission are required.
Captured video is written to local device storage using Android storage and media APIs. The app does not attempt to bypass Android screen-capture restrictions; protected or secure content may not be recordable.
Recording Content
A screen recording may contain personal or sensitive information visible in another application, depending on what you choose to record. Waris Labs does not control what those applications display.
Normal recording functionality does not require you to send recording content to Waris Labs. Recordings remain under your control unless you explicitly share them, for example using Android’s sharing functionality.
Audio Recording
Available modes are No audio, Microphone and Device audio. No audio records video without an audio track.
When you select Microphone, Android microphone permission may be requested and microphone audio is captured as part of your chosen recording.
Device audio uses Android-supported playback capture APIs for compatible audio. Not all apps allow capture: Android or the source app may restrict it. Screen Recorder does not bypass these restrictions or guarantee capture of calls or protected audio.
Microphone Permission
Android’s RECORD_AUDIO permission is used only when you select functionality requiring audio capture. Both Microphone and Device audio modes require this permission; selecting Device audio does not select the microphone as the audio source.
You may deny or revoke microphone permission in Android settings. Audio capture requiring that permission will then be unavailable; you can select No audio.
Local Storage
Recordings are stored locally using Android’s MediaStore and scoped-storage mechanisms. You can play, rename, share and delete recordings. Normal recording functionality does not require broad “All files access”.
Waris Labs does not store these local recordings on its servers and cannot recover recordings you delete.
QA Mode and Bug Reports
Optional QA mode supports app testing and bug reporting. You may enter a project name, issue title, app/build version, notes and timestamp markers with marker text. This information is stored locally in the app’s private storage.
You can review, generate and explicitly share a QA report. QA information is not automatically transmitted to Waris Labs.
Device Information in QA Reports
QA reports may include device manufacturer/model, Android version and API level, recording resolution, frame rate, duration and selected audio mode. Reports also include the recording filename, recording date and your entered QA information. Unavailable recording details may be shown as unknown.
The QA functionality is not designed to collect unique hardware identifiers such as IMEI, device serial number or MAC address.
Sharing Recordings and Reports
Sharing occurs only when you choose a sharing action. Android’s system Sharesheet lets you send recording files or QA reports to applications or services you select.
Once shared, the recipient’s privacy practices apply, including any storage or onward sharing. Waris Labs does not control the third-party applications you select.
Advertising
Screen Recorder is supported by advertising and uses Google Mobile Ads / Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google and its advertising partners may process device information, IP address, ad interactions, diagnostic information and identifiers available to the SDK, in accordance with their privacy policies and applicable consent requirements.
Advertising identifiers may be processed where permitted by the app configuration and platform. The current app configuration removes the Android advertising-ID permission; this does not prevent all other advertising-related data processing.
Screen recording content, QA notes and marker text are not intentionally provided by Screen Recorder to the advertising SDK for ad targeting.
Advertising Choices and Consent
Where required, advertising consent or privacy choices may be presented in accordance with applicable requirements and Google advertising services. Available choices depend on the app version, region and device settings.
The current internal-testing version uses Google test advertisements and does not yet implement an in-app Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent flow. Test-ad configuration is not a user consent decision. Production advertising requires the applicable consent and privacy-choice setup before it is enabled.
Internet Access and Analytics
Internet connectivity may be used for advertising and related third-party services. Core local recording does not require cloud upload.
Screen Recorder does not intentionally integrate Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude or Facebook Analytics. Advertising SDKs may nevertheless process advertising, interaction and diagnostic information as described above.
Accounts and Automatic Uploads
Screen Recorder does not require a Waris Labs account for its core recording functionality. It does not automatically upload your screen recordings or QA reports to Waris Labs as part of normal functionality. Sharing is initiated by you.
Data Retention
Locally created recordings remain on your device until you delete them or another application or user removes them. Android or device storage management may remove applicable temporary data.
QA metadata remains in app-private storage until removed by the app’s cleanup, clearing app data or uninstalling the app. Deleting a recording through the app also removes its associated QA metadata and cached reports.
Generated QA report files are cached locally. The app’s cleanup removes exported files older than 24 hours when cleanup runs; Android may clear cached files earlier. Copies you share or save elsewhere follow the recipient’s or storage location’s retention practices.
For information processed by advertising services, see the relevant third party’s retention policies. Waris Labs does not retain your local recordings on its servers.
Data Security
We design Screen Recorder so that recording content is handled locally for its core recording functionality. Consider the sensitivity of information visible or audible while recording and take appropriate care when storing or sharing recordings.
No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your device and review recordings and reports before sharing them.
Children’s Privacy
Screen Recorder is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Waris Labs through use of the app or a support request, contact us using the details below.
Responsible Recording
You are responsible for obtaining appropriate authorization or consent before recording other people’s conversations, meetings, content, applications or confidential information where required by applicable law or policy. Recording rules vary by context and location.
Android Restrictions
Screen Recorder respects Android platform security and content-protection mechanisms. It does not intentionally bypass FLAG_SECURE, DRM protections, MediaProjection restrictions or source-app playback capture restrictions.
Third-Party Services
Screen Recorder uses Google Mobile Ads / Google AdMob. Google’s privacy information explains how Google services handle information. Applications and services you choose through Android sharing operate under their own policies.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when app functionality, third-party services or legal and policy requirements change. The current version is posted on this page with its last-updated date.
