Privacy Policy for Screen Recorder
This Privacy Policy explains how Screen Recorder, provided by Waris Labs, handles recording data, advertising and privacy choices when you use the Android app.

Privacy Summary
- You initiate every screen recording and approve Android’s system screen-capture prompt for each session.
- Recordings are saved locally on your device. Screen Recorder does not automatically upload recordings or QA reports to Waris Labs.
- You control when and with whom you share recordings and reports.
- Microphone or compatible device audio is captured only when you select that audio mode; Android’s audio permissions and source-app restrictions apply.
- The free app shows banner and interstitial ads through Google Mobile Ads. UMP consent and privacy choices control whether ad requests are allowed.
- Google’s advertising SDK may send IP address, ad interactions, diagnostics and device/account identifiers to Google. Recording content and QA text are not sent to the ad SDK.
Screen Recording
Screen Recorder uses Android’s MediaProjection APIs only after you initiate recording and approve Android’s screen-capture consent interface for that session. Recording does not start secretly: user action and fresh system permission are required.
Captured video is written to local device storage using Android storage and media APIs. The app does not attempt to bypass Android screen-capture restrictions; protected or secure content may not be recordable.
Recording Content
A screen recording may contain personal or sensitive information visible in another application, depending on what you choose to record. Waris Labs does not control what those applications display.
Normal recording functionality does not require you to send recording content to Waris Labs. Recordings remain under your control unless you explicitly share them, for example using Android’s sharing functionality.
Audio Recording
Available modes are No audio, Microphone and Device audio. No audio records video without an audio track.
When you select Microphone, Android microphone permission may be requested and microphone audio is captured as part of your chosen recording.
Device audio uses Android-supported playback capture APIs for compatible audio. Not all apps allow capture: Android or the source app may restrict it. Screen Recorder does not bypass these restrictions or guarantee capture of calls or protected audio.
Microphone Permission
Android’s RECORD_AUDIO permission is used only when you select functionality requiring audio capture. Both Microphone and Device audio modes require this permission; selecting Device audio does not select the microphone as the audio source.
You may deny or revoke microphone permission in Android settings. Audio capture requiring that permission will then be unavailable; you can select No audio.
Local Storage
Recordings are stored locally using Android’s MediaStore and scoped-storage mechanisms. You can play, rename, share and delete recordings. Normal recording functionality does not require broad “All files access”.
Waris Labs does not store these local recordings on its servers and cannot recover recordings you delete.
QA Mode and Bug Reports
Optional QA mode supports app testing and bug reporting. You may enter a project name, issue title, app/build version, notes and timestamp markers with marker text. This information is stored locally in the app’s private storage.
You can review, generate and explicitly share a QA report. QA information is not automatically transmitted to Waris Labs.
Device Information in QA Reports
QA reports may include device manufacturer/model, Android version and API level, recording resolution, frame rate, duration and selected audio mode. Reports also include the recording filename, recording date and your entered QA information. Unavailable recording details may be shown as unknown.
The QA functionality is not designed to collect unique hardware identifiers such as IMEI, device serial number or MAC address.
Sharing Recordings and Reports
Sharing occurs only when you choose a sharing action. Android’s system Sharesheet lets you send recording files or QA reports to applications or services you select.
Once shared, the recipient’s privacy practices apply, including any storage or onward sharing. Waris Labs does not control the third-party applications you select.
Advertising
The free version uses Google Mobile Ads (Google AdMob) to show banner and interstitial advertisements. Native advanced and rewarded ads are not implemented. The app does not use a separate product analytics or crash-reporting service; the Google Mobile Ads SDK’s own crash-reporting feature is disabled.
Google’s current Google Mobile Ads Next-Gen SDK disclosure says the SDK automatically collects and shares the device IP address (which may be used to estimate general location), product interactions such as app launches, taps and video views, diagnostic information about app/SDK performance, and device/account identifiers including Android Advertising ID and App Set ID and, where applicable, other identifiers related to signed-in accounts. Google describes these uses as advertising, analytics and fraud prevention. Data collected by the SDK is encrypted in transit using TLS. Processing and ad personalization depend on user choices, device settings, applicable requirements and Google’s ad-serving rules.
The release declares Android’s AD_ID permission for the advertising SDK. Screen recording content, audio/video, thumbnails, filenames, QA project or issue details, notes and marker text are not supplied by Screen Recorder to the advertising SDK for targeting.
Google’s advertising services may process information under Google’s privacy terms. Waris Labs does not receive the SDK’s collected identifiers or ad diagnostics through an app-operated backend.
Advertising Choices and Consent
Screen Recorder uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) SDK with Google Mobile Ads. The app requests an updated consent status whenever it opens. UMP determines whether a consent form must be shown and whether ad requests are allowed; the app requests ads only when UMP’s canRequestAds() allows them. If consent information cannot be refreshed because the device is offline, the app follows UMP’s available prior consent state. If UMP does not permit requests, no ads are requested.
Google’s consent message is shown when required by the configured message and the user’s region or prior choice. A choice not to receive personalized ads does not automatically mean all ads are prohibited; limited or non-personalized ads may be available when UMP and Google permit them.
When UMP requires a privacy-options entry point, Screen Recorder shows Privacy Choices in Settings so you can revisit the Google-provided choices. The entry is shown only when UMP reports it is required. Message availability and choices depend on the current AdMob Privacy & messaging configuration, applicable regions and device settings.
Internet Access and Analytics
Internet access is used by Google Mobile Ads and UMP for advertising and consent services. Core recording, the local library and playback do not require a Waris Labs cloud service.
Screen Recorder does not integrate a separate product analytics service such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude or Facebook Analytics. Google Mobile Ads may process product interactions and diagnostics for the SDK purposes described above.
Accounts and Automatic Uploads
Screen Recorder does not require a Waris Labs account for its core recording functionality. It does not automatically upload your screen recordings or QA reports to Waris Labs as part of normal functionality. Sharing is initiated by you.
Data Retention
Locally created recordings remain on your device until you delete them or another application or user removes them. Android or device storage management may remove applicable temporary data.
QA metadata remains in app-private storage until removed by the app’s cleanup, clearing app data or uninstalling the app. Deleting a recording through the app also removes its associated QA metadata and cached reports.
Generated QA report files are cached locally. The app’s cleanup removes exported files older than 24 hours when cleanup runs; Android may clear cached files earlier. Copies you share or save elsewhere follow the recipient’s or storage location’s retention practices.
For information processed by advertising services, see the relevant third party’s retention policies. Waris Labs does not retain your local recordings on its servers.
Data Security
We design Screen Recorder so that recording content is handled locally for its core recording functionality. Consider the sensitivity of information visible or audible while recording and take appropriate care when storing or sharing recordings.
No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your device and review recordings and reports before sharing them.
Children’s Privacy
Screen Recorder is not specifically designed to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Waris Labs through use of the app or a support request, contact us using the details below.
Responsible Recording
You are responsible for obtaining appropriate authorization or consent before recording other people’s conversations, meetings, content, applications or confidential information where required by applicable law or policy. Recording rules vary by context and location.
Android Restrictions
Screen Recorder respects Android platform security and content-protection mechanisms. It does not intentionally bypass FLAG_SECURE, DRM protections, MediaProjection restrictions or source-app playback capture restrictions.
Third-Party Services
Screen Recorder uses Google Mobile Ads and Google UMP. Google’s services handle advertising requests and consent choices as described in this policy and under Google’s privacy terms. Applications and services you choose through Android sharing operate under their own policies.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy when app functionality, third-party services or legal and policy requirements change. The current version is posted on this page with its last-updated date.
Support and Feedback
Choosing Send feedback opens an editable email draft addressed to contact@warislabs.com in an email app on your device. The draft may include the app version, Android version, device manufacturer/model, selected recording mode, audio mode, resolution, frame rate and, after a recording error, a short technical error code. You can review, edit, send or discard the draft. Screen Recorder does not send it automatically and does not automatically attach recordings, screenshots, QA reports, logs or notes. If you choose to send the email, your email provider and the recipient handle it under their own practices.
